St. Joseph feeder pigsThe St. Joseph feeder pig auction, St. Joseph, Mo., reported receipts of 500 head July 24, compared to 331 head last week and 216 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News, St. Joseph, Mo. Compared to last week, feeder pigs were mostly $5 to $7 higher on comparable sales. The corn market has tempered somewhat here in the past couple of weeks and some moisture falling in the area yesterday was a welcome sight to farmers eyes. Prices paid per head on actual weights. U.S. 1 to 2: package 38 lbs., 28.00; lot 45 lbs., 42.00; 52 to 59 lbs., 45.00 to 51.00; package 64 lbs., 45.00. U.S. 1 to 3: package 43 lbs., 32.00; string 51 lbs., 30.00 hothouse; package 73 lbs., 36.50; package 84 lbs., 45.50. U.S. 2 to 3: package 35 lbs., 20.00; package 148 lbs., 45.00. Date: 7/26/07
