Springfield dairy heifer sale
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 650 head July 24, compared to 1,232 head last month and 820 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last month, demand was very good. Supply was light with 12% springer heifers, 30% bred heifers, 10% open heifers, 2% fresh and milking cows, 10% bred and springer cows, and 10% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise. Prices per head. Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 2025.00 to 2410.00; Crossbreds 2000.00 to 2225.00. Approved 1800.00 to 2050.00; Crossbreds 1775.00 to 1925.00. Medium 1500.00 to 1775.00; Crossbreds 1425.00 to 1525.00. Common 975.00 to 1450.00; Crossbreds 825.00 to 1225.00 Heifers: Bred three to six months, Supreme 2000.00 to 2425.00, individual Jersey 2000.00; Crossbreds 1950.00 to 2200.00. Approved 1775.00 to 2050.00; Crossbreds 1675.00 to 1850.00. Medium 1590.00 to 1750.00; Crossbreds 1400.00 to 1650.00. Common 825.00 to 1550.00; Crossbreds 875.00 to 1375.00.
