Springfield cattle sales report
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,014 head July 25, compared to 2,085 head last week and 1,672 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Holsteins were steady, exception 600 weights were $2 to $4 higher. Demand and supply moderate. The offering was mostly unweaned calves, with a high percentage of bull calves than in previous sales. The feeder supply included 26% steers, 11% Holsteins, 44% heifers, 20% bulls, with 39% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 485 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 124.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 117.00 to 121.00; 600 to 660 lbs., calves 120.50 to 122.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 355 lbs., 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 119.00, thin 116.00 to 122.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.50 to 120.50, calves 106.00 to 117.50; 700 to 755 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00; package 880 lbs., 97.00. Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 464 lbs., 90.00; package 516 lbs., 88.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 86.50 to 95.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 81.00 to 89.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 78.00 to 83.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 112.50 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 115.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00, package calves 105.00; 700 800 lbs., 105.50 to 107.00.
