Single span engine drive meets needs of small fieldsValmont Irrigation, Valley, Neb., introduces its Valley Single Span Engine Drive as the premier irrigation solution for small fields under 10 acres. This low-pressure system needs no electricity, offering growers significant savings in infrastructure, pumping and energy costs. "This machine allows growers to irrigate more of their land, eliminating unproductive acreage, including picking up corners that aren't covered on center pivot fields," says Jim Mikula, Valley product manager. "It's perfect for small-sized fields with no access to power or for growers who can't economically justify adding power on a field of less than 10 acres," he adds. The Single Span Engine Drive from Valley can be operated on slopes of up to 10 percent. Mounted directly to the pivot's base beam, the engine drive operates in forward and reverse modes for maximum flexibility in crop management. No tools are needed because a simple over-center lever allows you to quickly switch the belt direction to run in reverse. Equipped with a reliable Honda 5.5-horsepower engine, the unit is enclosed for weather protection and can use an auxiliary 19-gallon fuel tank option for extended operation between refills. With standard-speed pulleys, the machine can complete a circle in 4 to 9 hours, depending on tire size and engine speed. The high-speed pulley option can cover your acreage in half that time. Earn back your ROI even faster by moving it to different field locations with the optional skid 2- or 4-wheel EZ tow. Choose the right tire size for your situation and further customize it with the best sprinkler package for efficient, precise application. Available for all 8000 series 6 5/8" spans and overhangs, this small-field model comes with the industry-respected Valley warranty, support and superior service from your local Valley dealers.
