Pasture, range conditions drop

Colorado

Scattered showers were received across the state during the week ending July 22, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Colorado Field Office, July 23.

Most areas are still reporting precipitation levels below normal for this time of year. Temperatures continued above average statewide. Producers had an average of 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork.

Winter wheat was 96 percent harvested by the end of the week. Spring barley was 79 percent turning color and 4 percent harvested. The crop is in mostly good to excellent condition. Spring wheat was 96 percent headed with 54 percent turning color last week with the crop rated in mostly good to fair condition.

sorghum was 23 percent headed and the crop is in mostly good condition. Dry onions and sunflowers are rated in mostly good condition. Summer potatoes were in mostly excellent to good condition. Fall potatoes were in mostly good to fair condition. corn was 38 percent silked and 1 percent dough by the end of the week. The crop is in mostly good to excellent condition. Sugarbeets are still in mostly good condition. Dry beans were 46 percent flowered with the crop in mostly good condition.

Second cutting was 70 percent complete by the end of the week. The crop is in mostly good condition.

Pasture and range conditions dropped last week with the high temperatures. They are rated in mostly good to fair condition. Death losses for cattle and sheep were rated below average for the week. Livestock condition is rated in mostly good to excellent. Stored feed supplies are average for this time of year.
