Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 3,581 head July 23, compared to 4,169 head last week and 3,639 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves and yearlings were steady to $2 lower, heifers were steady to $2 higher. Demand and supply were moderate. Over all quality not as high, but condition typical of previous sales. The feeder supply included 45% steers, 41% heifers, 13% bulls, with 52% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 124.50 to 134.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00; 630 to 700 115.00 to 117.75; 735 to 800 lbs., 112.50 to 115.00; lot 819 lbs., 113.00; load 976 lbs., 104.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 360 to 400 lbs., few 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 127.00, thin 124.00 to 130.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 121.00, thin 124.00 to 125.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 118.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00; 800 to 870 lbs., 103.50 to 112.00. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, package 465 lbs., 86.00; 815 to 825 lbs., 81.00 to 82.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 120.50 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 120.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 112.50; 700 to 735 lbs., 101.50 to 108.00.
