Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, July 20, reported receipts of 2,278 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,201 head last week and 3,504 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, there was not an adequate market test on feeder lambs. Light and heavy weight slaughter lambs sold $3 to $5 higher. Feeder kids sold $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter kids sold steady. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes: Set, 55 lb. ewe lambs 111.00; 80 to 100 lbs., 62.00 to 75.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 250.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 100 lbs., 85.00 to 98.00; Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 85 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00. Good 2 to 3, 50 to 85 lbs., 85.00 to 92.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 30.00 to 39.00. Slaughter bucks, 125 to 225 lbs., 25.00 to 29.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 74.00 to 80.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 99.00 to 109.50. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 99.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 47.00 to 58.00, few light 60.00 to 65.00. Billies, 90 to 210 lbs., 60.00 to 70.00, few light 80.00 to 85.00.
