Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,383 head July 16, compared to 6,317 head last week and 1,808 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were not fully established. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 75% of the run, heifers 25%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 90%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, small lot 326 lbs., 155.00; lot and package 550 to 551 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 116.50, small lot 695 lb. calves 108.00; lot 703 lbs., 115.00, 750 to 800 lbs., 111.00 to 113.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 112.00 to 113.50, few 875 to 900 lbs., 106.50 to 108.50; string 906 lbs., 109.35. Large frame 1, package 824 lbs., 106.50, lot 896 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 440 to 400 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00; package 593 lbs., 114.00; two small lots 637 to 690 lbs., 105.00; near one load 713 lbs., 115.75, 750 to 775 lbs., 109.25 to 112.25; load and string 810 lbs., 108.50 to 111.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 547 lbs., 113.00; lot 715 lbs., 100.00; few 800 to 850 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 400 lbs., 115.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00, small lot 604 lb. calves 105.00, package 654 lb. calves 98.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 99.50 to 105.50; package 817 lbs., 96.50, lot 820 lbs., fleshy 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 393 lbs., 107.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00; few 500 to 525 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00, lot 518 lbs., fleshy 105.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.50 to 109.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 94.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 387 lbs., 111.00; package 456 lbs., 104.00; few 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 46.00 to 49.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 50.00 to 54.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.50 to 46.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 48.75; low dressing, 39.00 to 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1550 to 1750 lbs., 66.00 to 67.50.

Replacement cows: Large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 800 to 1100 lbs., 2 to 8 months bred, 550.00 to 810.00 per head.
