Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 717 head July 18, compared to 535 head last week and 1,000 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer and heifer calves were not well tested. Demand was good for all classes. Weigh-ups were average to full. The supply consisted of 57% steers, 42% heifers with 84% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 60 cows and bulls sold with 66% to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 414 lbs., 145.00; 14 head, 463 lbs., 136.00; 9 head, 645 lbs., 114.50 calves; 13 head, 675 to 687 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (114.11); 137 head, 735 lbs., 117.25; 756 to 791 lbs., 114.00 to 114.75 (114.10). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 540 lbs., 122.50. Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 612 lbs., 113.75 calves; 10 head, 613 lbs., 114.25; 8 head, 670 lbs., 110.25; 11 head, 735 lbs., 113.50; 28 head, 798 lbs., 110.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 415 to 440 lbs., 120.50 to 131.00 (122.82); 23 head, 536 lbs., 114.25; 9 head, 560 to 564 lbs., 111.50 to 113.25 (112.67); 610 to 620 lbs., 108.50 to 109.00 (108.83) calves; 6 head, 674 lbs., 106.50; 9 head, 762 lbs., 105.50; 66 head, 806 lbs., 106.10; 60 head, 852 lbs., 103.10. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 458 lbs., 115.00; 6 head, 556 lbs., 105.50; 8 head, 675 lbs., 103.00; 15 head, 710 lbs., 104.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 5 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1625 lbs., 54.00; high dressing, 56.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 52.50. Boners, 20 head, 80 to 85% lean, 925 to 1500 lbs., 51.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 50.50. Lean, 4 head, 85 to 90% lean, 925 to 1175 lbs., 50.50; high dressing, 54.50; low dressing, 48.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 8 head, 1100 to 1850 lbs., 65.00 to 65.50; high dressing, 68.25; low dressing, 57.00 to 61.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 1125 to 1275 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average blacks 760.00 to 820.00; 3 to 5 years old, 1150 to 1350 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average blacks 830.00 to 860.00.
