Springfield livestock sales
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,085 head July 18, compared to 2,370 head last week and 1,126 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were steady, Holsteins were steady to $1 higher, heifers were steady to $2 higher. Demand and supply were moderate. A Wean-vac special was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. A few cattle showed fescue hair and were discounted as temperatures were in the nineties. The feeder supply included 35% steers, 12% Holsteins, 35% heifers, 8% bulls, with 45% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 456 lbs., 127.00; 530 to 600 lbs., 121.00 to 123.50; 640 to 655 lbs., calves 111.50 to 121.50, 670 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 116.50; 700 to 740 lbs., 113.50 to 118.00; lot 852 lbs., 109.75; package 906 lbs., 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 430 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 122.50, thin 127.00 to 132.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.50 to 118.00, package 538 lbs., thin 125.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 117.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 113.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 103.50 to 105.50. Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 275 lbs., 97.00; package 362 lbs., 101.00; 540 to 600 lbs., 86.50 to 91.00; 600 to 670 lbs., 84.50 to 91.00; 760 to 800 lbs., 84.25 to 85.50; 800 to 820 lbs., 81.00 to 81.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 365 to 400 lbs., 122.00 to 128.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 118.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 113.00; package 808 lbs., 101.50.
