South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending July 13, showed receipts of 7,500 head of lambs, 2,000 slaughter meat goats, and 200 head nannies and does, according to the USDA to Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were $3 to $5 lower. There were no slaughter lambs. Slaughter ewes, and replacement ewes were not tested. Slaughter meat goats were $20 higher. Trading was active, demand was good. Hot weather and worm problems have affected the market this week.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 7500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 70 to 90 lbs., 100.00 to 102.00.

Slaughter meat goats: Kids, Texas, 2000 head, Selection 1 to 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 93.00 to 100.00 last week and 105.00 to 110.00 this week.

Nannies/does: Texas, 200 head, Selection 1 to 2, 100 lbs., 52.00, thin 90 lbs., 40.00.
