Sioux Falls sheep sales report
The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., July 16, reported receipts of 1,466 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,000 head last week and 714 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold steady. Slaughter ewes sold steady to firm. Feeder lambs, lacking the bloom and freshness of last week's offering sold mostly $2 to $4 lower. Receipts included about 61% slaughter lambs, 20% feeder lambs, 16% slaughter ewes and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 133 to 146 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00 (105.20). Shorn, Choice 2 to 3, 5 head, 128 lbs., 102.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 126 to 128 lbs., 104.00; 131 to 144 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00 (105.43). Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 25 head, 109 lbs., 98.00; 118 to 128 lbs., 98.50 to 104.00 (101.82). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 10 head, 158 lbs., 35.50; 163 to 178 lbs., 30.50 to 34.50 (33.55). Utility 1 to 2, 160 to 199 lbs., 23.50 to 27.50 (24.95). Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 129 to 138 lbs., 20.00 to 23.00 (21.24). Cull 1, 123 to 155 lbs., 18.00 to 20.00 (19.21); 17 head, 160 lbs., 20.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and Large 1 to 2, 9 head, 33 to 38 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00 (106.51); 53 head, 59 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00 (114.11); 22 head, 63 lbs., 110.00; 17 head, 74 lbs., 100.00; 82 to 88 lbs., 100.00 to 110.50 (106.84).
