Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,452 head July 12, compared to 3,365 head last year, according to the USDA to Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. This is the first sale of the new season. Steers at 600 to 1000 pounds and heifers at 600 to 900 pounds sold very active, with a market of $3 to $5 higher than last sale in May. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 90% 600 pounds and over, 10% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers.
