Pratt livestock market report
Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,189 head July 13, compared to 1,026 head two weeks ago and 3,641 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers at 300 to 1000 pounds, and feeder heifers at 300 to 950 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Trade was active and demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 higher. Receipts 81% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 12% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 348 lbs., 150.00; 5 head, 435 lbs., 139.00; 17 head, 596 lbs., 124.00; 13 head, 631 lbs., 124.25; 29 head, 685 lbs., 111.00; 72 head, 741 lbs., 120.00; 60 head, 792 lbs., 113.00; 45 head, 830 lbs., 119.10; 850 to 900 lbs., 114.00 to 115.50 (114.04); 51 head, 927 lbs., 107.75; 5 head, 1128 lbs., 89.50. Medium and large frame 2, 700 to 750 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.26); 800 to 850 lbs., 109.50 to 113.50 (111.54); 850 to 900 lbs., 107.50 to 107.85 (107.72). Large frame 2, 950 to 1000 LBS 96.50 to 97.00 (96.78). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 345 lbs., 126.00; 4 head, 419 lbs., 120.00; 15 head, 556 lbs., 119.50; 81 head, 643 lbs., 115.75; 26 head, 693 lbs., 112.00; 68 head, 747 lbs., 111.75; 5 head, 768 lbs., 110.00; 59 head, 847 lbs., 110.00; 56 head, 901 lbs., 106.25. Medium frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 657 lbs., 99.00. Baby calves: Per head, 11 head, 210.00 to 370.00 (308.18). Feeder cows and heiferettes: 13 head, 76.00 to 85.00 (79.46). Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 60.00 to 61.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 51.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 48.00.
