Joplin regional cattle sales
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,169 head July 16, compared to 5,100 head last week and 4,519 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were steady to $2 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply was moderate. Lower corn and soybean futures lended support to stocker and feeder cattle trade. Moderate temperatures, and moisture every few days had pastures in good condition. The feeder supply included 45% steers, 2% Holsteins, 42% heifers, 11% bulls, with 53% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 133.50 to 147.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 137.00, thin 134.50 to 138.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 120.00 to 131.00, thin 123.75 to 134.00; 600 to 700 115.00 to 123.50, calves 114.75 to 119.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 116.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 109.25 to 115.85; lot 942 lbs., 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 340 to 400 lbs., few 130.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00, thin 123.50 to 129.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00, thin 121.00 to 124.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.50 to 120.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 115.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 105.50 to 112.25; lot 942 lbs., 106.50.
