Henry, Nan Gardiner inducted into Honorary Angus FoundationKansas Henry and Nan Gardiner, Ashland, Kan., have a lifelong commitment to the Angus breed and continue to contribute to the National Junior Angus Association's success. From serving as role models to young NJAA members to being early adopters of new technologies, the Gardiners have shown their belief in the Angus breed. "Their work ethic, integrity and strong family structure serve as goals for all of us--young or old--to strive toward," said Matt Perrier, Dalebanks Angus, Eureka, Kan. For their dedication, Henry and Nan were inducted into the Honorary Angus Foundation at the National Junior Angus Show, July 1 through the 7 in Tulsa, Okla. Each year the NJAA selects outstanding individuals to join the Honorary Angus Foundation. Inductees are those who have shown significant dedication and support to the juniors. The Gardiners have always been supportive of youth in agriculture, according to Perrier. They have donated their time and treasures, and serve as role models to many NJAA members, including several of their grandchildren who are active in showing cattle and participating in NJAS contests, Perrier said. "They have been relentless in their financial support of the NJAA and the Angus Foundation over the years," remarked Zebadiah Gray, NJAA membership director. In addition to their generosity, the Gardiners were among the first to recognize the value of tools provided by the American Angus AssociationSM such as artificial insemination and embryo transfer and put them to extensive use in their large scale operation. Recognizing the value of genetics and passing on information to others is equally as important to the Gardiners. "Henry is a great teacher. He is always willing to share his knowledge about the industry freely," said Don Laughlin, American Angus Association regional manager. Serving on the American Angus Association Beef Improvement Committee and Board of Directors, Henry contributed to numerous research projects to evaluate performance and increase the production of exceptional Angus seedstock. A list of accomplishments including Beef Improvement Federation Commercial Producer of the Year and Seed Stock Producer of the Year, Certified Angus Beef LLC Commitment to Excellence Award, the National Cattlemen's Foundation Beef Industry Vision Award, and Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame inductee is proof of the Gardiners' dedication to the breed. The Gardiners have been involved with the Angus breed for more than 50 years. Their leadership and support continues to impact the NJAA as well as the beef industry.
