Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, July 13, reported receipts of 3,201 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,355 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

There were no comparisons available due to the holiday closing the previous week. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Stock ewes, wool, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few two year olds 100 to 110 lbs., 80.00. Dorper ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 60.00 to 90.00; 50 to 90-lb. ewe lambs 100.00 to 120.00. Barbados ewes, 60 to 80 lbs., 55.00 to 80.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 85 to 100 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00, few old crop 60.00 to 70.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 45 to 80 lbs., 84.00 to 99.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 95.00 to 107.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 97.00 to 110.00, few to 116.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 55.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 69.00 to 75.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 95 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lb. fancy nannies 108.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 98.00, few fancy 100.00 to 125.00 per head. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 55.00 to 70.00. Billies, Selection 1, 130 to 160 lbs., 80.00 to 128.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 35 to 45 lbs., 85.00 to 103.00.
