Dodge City cattle sales

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 2,689 head July 11, compared to 1,680 head two weeks ago and 3,635 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last sale, steers and heifers 300- to 700-pounds not enough for a market test. Steers and heifers 700 to 1000 pounds were $5 to $7 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to firm. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 4% 600 pounds and under, 8% slaughter cows and bulls with 206 head, early. The feeder supply included 65% steers and 35% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 488 lbs., 130.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 114.50 to 115.25 (115.10); 750 to 800 lbs., 114.75 to 115.75 (115.12); 800 to 850 lbs., 114.85 to 115.60 (115.15); 850 to 900 lbs., 114.00 to 114.35 (114.15); 900 to 950 lbs., 11.35 to 111.85 (111.85); 29 head, 987 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 732 lbs., 112.75; 19 head, 824 lbs., 114.10; 850 to 900 lbs., 111.50 to 114.00 (112.39). Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 559 lbs., 123.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 112.85 to 113.85 (113.50); 23 head, 882 lbs., 110.50; 22 head, 935 lbs., 107.25. Medium frame 2, 7 head, 108.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 15 head, 289 lbs., 390.00 per head.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 613 lbs., 98.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 650 to 700 lbs., 109.75 to 109.85 (109.84); 23 head, 702 lbs., 108.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 108.10 to 109.25 (108.86); 800 to 850 lbs., 107.00 to 107.75 (107.36). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 444 lbs., 124.00; 7 head, 569 lbs., 113.00; 20 head, 625 lbs., 113.00; 11 head, 689 lbs., 106.00; 56 head, 702 lbs., 107.50; 900 to 950 lbs., 98.25 to 98.75 (98.50). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 530 lbs., 120.00; 11 head, 554 lbs., 116.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 106.75 to 107.75 (107.13); 6 head, 807 lbs., 103.00. Medium frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 606 lbs., 104.50. Baby calves: Per head, steers and bulls, 1 head, 250 lbs., 400.00; 6 head, 200 to 245 lbs., 230.00 to 360.00; 1 head, 75 lbs., 130.00. Heifers, 3 head, 230 to 285 lbs., 380.00 to 390.00 7 head, 170 to 180 lbs., 275.00 to 320.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 54.75 to 58.50; low dressing, 52.50 to 54.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 58.50 to 60.00; low dressing, 41.00 to 52.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 64.50 to 70.00; low dressing 57.00 to 63.00.
