Anne Lampe named 2007 advisor of the yearKansas The Kansas Junior Angus Association has earned numerous achievements and experienced much growth, thanks in part to the guidance of Anne Lampe, Scott City, Kan. Anne has helped the association in every capacity during her 14 years of involvement with the Kansas juniors, and has been with them to celebrate all 10 of their NJAS sweepstakes awards. For her dedication and leadership to the KJAA, Anne Lampe was recognized as the 2007 National Junior Angus Association advisor of the year at the National Junior Angus Show, July 1 through the 7 in Tulsa, Okla. Although KJAA bylaws allow a person to only serve one three-year term as an official advisor, this has not stopped Anne from being a mentor and supporter to Kansas juniors long after the conclusion of her term. "Ever since I began showing Angus cattle, Anne has always been the one to be there, making sure everything is running smoothly whether she's getting show sponsors or helping kids get to the show ring," said Courtenay DeHoff, KJAA secretary. One of Anne's greatest passions is the Auxiliary sponsored Certified Angus Beef® Cook-off at the NJAS. Through her encouragement and enthusiasm, the "Kansas Cook Off fever" has spread throughout the KJAA, with approximately 30 members participating on about five teams each year. On the national level, she is in her third year as co-chairman of the contest and served on the committee for six years prior. Anne also serves as chairman of the Miss Kansas Angus and Ambassador program, ensuring that each individual has a positive learning experience and advising them throughout the year. Instrumental in finding new ways to recognize and encourage involvement in the KJAA, Anne can be credited with developing the Kansas Junior Angus Challenge leadership and Premier Exhibitor awards as well as fundraising opportunities for the juniors. "Kansas has been very successful at nationals over the years and we couldn't have done it without Anne," DeHoff said. "She has made a huge impact on KJAA juniors, treating each as if they were her own children." Following in the footsteps of her parents, who were honored as Advisors of the Year in 1982, Anne exemplifies what it is to be truly devoted to the youth of the organization. Date: 7/19/07
