Ada livestock sale notes

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 1,750 head July 12, compared to 4,530 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to the sale two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were $5 to $8 higher. Demand was good on all classes. Flesh conditions were medium. Weigh-ups were average. The supply included 42% heifers and 38% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 higher. A total of 285 cows and bulls sold with 34% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 320 to 335 lbs., 158.00 to 165.00 (160.94); 5 head, 410 to 437 lbs., 134.00 to 139.00 (137.08); 469 to 499 lbs., 131.00 to 136.00 (133.25); 6 head, 533 lbs., 132.50; 554 to 593 lbs., 120.00 to 127.00 (122.95); 8 head, 603 to 616 lbs., 118.50 to 121.50 (120.39); 8 head, 669 to 693 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (114.24); 708 to 742 lbs., 107.00 to 110.50 (108.25); 11 head, 756 to 785 lbs., 106.00 to 110.50 (108.82); 801 to 817 lbs., 105.00 to 108.50 (106.53); 10 head, 858 to 867 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00 (102.79); 11 head, 919 lbs., 103.75. Lean, 25 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1226 lbs., 51.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 20 head, 1300 to 2275 lbs., 66.00 to 68.00; high dressing, 70.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 63.00 to 64.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 4 years old, 975 to 1000 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average blacks, 820.00 to 890.00; 4 to 5 years old, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average to high blacks, 1000.00 to 1060.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1050 to 1300 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, average blacks, 700.00 to 840.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 6 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 300-lb. calves, average blacks, 1075.00 to 1300.00.
