Wyobraska cattle sales

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 23, totaled 1,860 head, compared to 1,550 head last week and 8,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

At Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for available supplies. Direct trade was slow and no good price comparison was available for the reported sales. Offerings were moderate. Demand and buyer inquiry were moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 85% of the supply, heifers 15%, with 96% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1705 head of the total receipts.

Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 505 lbs., 122.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, none. Delivered price, Medium and large frame 1, 725 lbs., 111.00; 825 lbs., 105.50; 900 lbs., 101.25; 900 lbs., 106.25 for July; 685 lbs.,. 120.00 for September.

Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 655 lbs., 108.50; 775 to 785 lbs., 98.00 to 99.50; 845 to 850 lbs., 96.25 to 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 470 lbs., 117.00; 505 lbs., 114.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 715 lbs., 105.00. Delivered price, none.
