West Plains regional salesThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,600 head June 26, compared to 5,553 head last week and 4,592 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were unevenly steady, selling from $2 lower to $2 higher throughout the day, full advance was noted on better quality calves when the market reached it's full potential, following a rather slow start and prior to tailing off on the close, as buyers began capping their loads. Yearling demand remained good most all day with several load to lots in town and being absorbed rather handily, in spite of sharply lower fat cattle trade, continued pressure on the cattle board and stronger grain futures. The supply was moderate. Demand was moderate to good. The supply consisted of 61% steers and 39% heifers, with nearly 56% over 600 pounds.
