Springfield cattle sales reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,304 head June 27, compared to 2,746 head last week and 1,779 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, over 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher, Holsteins were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Lower corn futures lending support to feeder cattle trade, but calves finding a narrow, seasonal outlet going into the hot, summer months. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 12% Holsteins, 37% heifers, 9% bulls, with 46% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 116.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00, calves 107.50 to 113.50; 700 to 745 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00.
