Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 901 head June 21, compared to 878 head last week and 778 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter ewes sold unevenly steady. Feeder lambs under 100 pounds sold $1 to $3 lower, no comparison on lambs over 100 pounds. Feeder lamb quality not as attractive as last weeks offerings. Demand was moderate to good. Receipts included about 12% slaughter ewes, 86% feeder lambs, with the balance slaughter bucks and other miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 3 to 4, 16 head, 221 lbs., 16.25. Utility and Good 1 to 3, 24 head, 162 lbs., 29.25. Utility 1 to 2, 10 head, 136 lbs., 23.50. Cull 1, 60 head, 133 lbs., 18.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and Large 1 to 2, 9 head, 42 lbs., 120.50; 31 head, 56 lbs., 115.50 short docks; 26 head, 67 lbs., 116.00; 28 head, 74 lbs., 112.00; 91 to 95 lbs., 105.75 to 107.00 (106.35); 16 head, 95 lbs., 104.50 black face; 22 head, 108 lbs., 95.75 black face; 45 head, 111 lbs., 100.25 fleshy; 404 head, 134 lbs., 104.50 fleshy; 12 head, 140 lbs., 89.25 old crop.
