Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, June 22, reported receipts of 2,642 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,384 head last week and 2,160 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Lightweight slaughter lambs were $3 to $5 higher, heavy weights were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $8 to $10 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 70 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 80.00, few 55 lb. ewes lambs 101.00. Dorper bucks, 130.00 to 300.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few old crop 100 to 120 lbs., 55.00 to 70.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Slaughter bucks, 125 to 200 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 75.00 to 79.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 35.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 102.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 104.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 52.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 55.00 to 65.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1m 50 to 60 lb, fancy nannies 95.00 to 132.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 90.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Pairs, few 30.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 117.50.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 30 to 45 lbs., 75.00 to 90.00.
