Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D. reported receipts of 307 head June 25, compared to 485 head last week and 161 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold steady in a very limited test and feeder heifers not well tested. Feeder cows sold $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder receipts included 40% steers, 36% bulls and 24% heifers, with 41% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 33% feeder cattle, 37% replacement females, 10% slaughter cows and bulls, 18% pairs, with the other miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 41 head, 551 lbs., 133.00 gaunt.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 368 lbs., 124.00; 13 head, 700 lbs., 98.50,

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 402 lbs., 135.00; 29 head, 724 lbs., 100.25.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 875 to 1050 lbs, 73.50 to 88.00.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 820 to 1100 lbs., 58.00 to 66.00. Middle aged to aged, 1050 to 1350 lbs., 51.00 to 56.00. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1860 lbs., 52.00 to 54.25.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85%l lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 48.50 to 50.25; low dressing, 46.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 46.25 to 48.50; 890 lbs., 45.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 2150 lbs., 62.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 71.00; low dressing, 58.75 to 59.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, price per pair, 16 head, 3 years to broken, 1200 to 1420 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, mixed, 1010.00 to 1040.00.
