Dodge City cattle sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 2,731 head June 20, compared to 1,680 head last week and 2,535 head last year, according to the USDA to Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers at 300 to 700 pounds were not enough for a market test. Steers at 700 to 800 pounds on a very light test were firm to $2 higher, and 800 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Heifers at 700 to 900 pounds were firm to $2 higher on a light test. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Receipts were 85% over 600 pounds, 5% under 600 pounds and 10% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply consisted of 76% steers and 34% heifers.

Fleshy, 9 head, 851 lbs., 104.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 490 lbs., 132.00; 18 head, 667 lbs., 111.50; 40 head, 749 lbs., 108.00; 17 head, 767 lbs., 107.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 105.85 to 106.10 (106.01). Large frame 3, Holsteins, 6 head, 521 lbs., 74.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 490 lbs., 132.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 389 lbs., 147.00; 8 head, 402 lbs., 147.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 425 lbs., 120.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 110.50 to 112.00 (110.97); 132 head, 739 lbs., 103.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 97.00 to 98.25 (98.02); 850 to 900 lbs., 97.00 to 98.60 (97.81). Fleshy 8 head, 774 lbs., 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 326 lbs., 128.00.

Feeding cows and heiferettes: 23 head, 65.00 to 87.00 (79.50).

Baby calves: Steers or bulls, per head, 7 head, 190 to 195 lbs., 285.00 to 350.00 (333.39); 11 head, 213 to 235 lbs., 350.00 to 380.00 (375.22); 8 head, 255 to 277 lbs., 330.00 to 450.00 (421.82). Heifers, per head, individual 95 lbs., 225.00; 3 head, 111 lbs., 180.00; 2 head, 185 to 190 lbs., 210.00 to 260.00 (234.67); 16 head, 200 to 242 lbs., 260.00 to 320.00 (312.09); 14 head, 272 to 290 lbs., 210.00 to 370.00 (338.80); individual 310 lbs., 410.00; 3 head, 350 lbs., 430.00.

Pairs: 99 pair, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 940 to 1106 lbs., mostly thin fleshed with 100- to 300-lb. calves, 1200.00 to 1460.00 (1383.90).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, few 61.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 54.50 to 59.50 individual 60.00; low dressing, 52.50 to 54.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 53.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 66.00 to 69.50; high dressing, individual 71.00; low dressing, individual 62.50.
