Company simplifies corn hybrid numbering system

Golden Acres Genetics, Waco, Texas, has simplified its numbering system for corn hybrids.

"Under this new system, our corn numbers will consist of only five digits," said Buice. "Each digit will have a specific purpose-identifying the crop, maturity range, year of introduction, genetic platform and trait. We think this change will bring consistency and simplicity to our corn numbering system."

Buice said the 2008 Golden Acres corn lineup will feature a good mix of proven products and new releases. "Several of the new hybrids feature genetics that are new to the Golden Acres lineup, and four of them contain the new YieldGard VT stacked-trait technology from Monsanto. We are excited that our testing program has advanced so many new hybrids adapted to our local growing conditions and containing the latest in trait technology."
