Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,405 head July 9, compared to 2,152 head last week and 3,777 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher, however only a light test on cattle under 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good to very good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 650- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 97% and slaughter cows and bulls 3% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 54% of the run, heifers 46%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 76%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00; package 667 lbs., calves 108.00; package 696 lbs., 115.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 111.50 to 112.00; load 794 lbs., 109.75; load 823 lbs., 110.85.
