Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 535 head July 11, compared to 358 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last sale, no recent sales to test trends , but a higher undertone was noted on feeder cattle. Demand was very good for feeders, good for calves. Fill average to full. A total of 86 cows and bulls sold with 76% to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 890 lbs., 105.25; 46 head, 955 lbs., 108.00; 83 head, 1057 lbs., 101.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 480 lbs., 116.00; 6 head, 518 lbs., 120.50.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 5 head, 436 lbs., 85.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 635 to 643 lbs., 103.00 to 109.25 (107.56) calves. Medium and large frame 2, 3 head, 591 lbs., 106.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 759 to 790 lbs., 105.85 to 107.85 (107.47); 59 head, 892 lbs., 100.25. Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 825 lbs., 95.00. Small and medium frame 2, 5 head, 547 lbs., 102.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 36 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1575 lbs., 50.50 to 54.00; high dressing, 55.25 to 58.00; low dressing, 49.50 to 50.00. Lean, 11 head, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1225 lbs., 52.00; high dressing, 54.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 49.00. Light, 4 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 950 lbs., 43.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 15 head, 1200 to 1900 lbs., 63.50 to 66.25; high dressing, 67.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.50.
