Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,370 head July 11, compared to 3,316 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and Holsteins traded $3 to $5 higher and feeder heifers $5 to $6 higher, with the most advance seen on calves under 600 pounds. The supply was moderate and demand good. Buyers aggressive throughout the sale, seemingly ready to get back to business after last week's holiday shortened trade. The feeder supply consisted of 41% steers, 14% Holsteins, 38% heifers and 7% bulls, with 34% over 600 pounds.
