High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending July 8, totaled 236,188 head, compared to 160,848 head last week and 210,114 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,648 head, 1,175 to 1,450 lbs., 85.00 to 89.00 (87.66); 65 to 80% Choice, 7,425 head, 1,225 to 1,450 lbs., 86.00 to 90.50 (88.01); 35 to 65% Choice, 51,954 head, 1,075 to 1,425 lbs., 85.50 to 90.50 (89.65); 0 to 35% Choice, 4,083 head, 1,150 to 1,400 lbs., 88.00 to 90.00 (89.77).
