Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 896 head July 10, compared to 1,110 head last week and 1,098 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher compared to last week's limited test. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls not enough for an adequate market test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 800 lbs., feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle account for approximately 95% of the run with slaughter cows and bulls accounting for 5% of the run. In the feeder supply steers made up approximately 53%, heifers 47%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 84%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 370 lbs., 148.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.50 to 115.00, calves 106.00 to 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 113.50; package 727 lb. calves 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 240 lbs., 165.00; package 356 lbs., 128.00; string 692 lbs., fleshy 112.00; package 877 lbs., 102.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 720 lbs., 93.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, package 603 lbs., 85.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 114.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 286 lbs., 128.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 122.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00; package 732 lbs., 101.50; lot 858 lbs., 93.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 270 to 300 lbs., 122.00 to 130.00; 380 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00; load 638 lbs., 107.00, package 632 lb. calves 94.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 102.00 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 585 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 95.00; package 647 lbs., 89.00; package 716 lbs., 94.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 46.00 to 49.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 42.00 to 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 2100 lbs., 62.00 to 65.00; high dressing 1500 lbs., individual 68.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred 750.00 to 790.00 per head; middle aged, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred 610.00 to 760.00 per head; aged, 1100 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred 610.00 to 720.00 per head. Small and medium 3 to 4, middle aged, 700 to 900 lbs., 2 to 7 months bred 370.00 to 470.00 per head; aged, 700 to 800 lbs., 4 months bred 460.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, 1000 to 1100 lbs., with 250-lb. calf 850.00 per pair; aged, 1100 to 1200 lbs., with 200-lb. calf 760.00 per head. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, mixed ages, 700 to 900 lbs., with 75- to 250-lb. calves 440.00 to 590.00 per head.
