Amarillo livestock sales
The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 896 head July 10, compared to 1,110 head last week and 1,098 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher compared to last week's limited test. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls not enough for an adequate market test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 800 lbs., feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle account for approximately 95% of the run with slaughter cows and bulls accounting for 5% of the run. In the feeder supply steers made up approximately 53%, heifers 47%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 84%.
