Aberdeen cattle sales

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 1,609 head July 11, compared to 4,260 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers sold $2 to $3 higher on a light test. Most offerings were of high quality. Steers made up 60% of the run, heifers 40%, with 96% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 636 lbs., 121.00; 726 to 737 lbs., 116.25 to 117.00 (116.72) calves; 13 head, 767 lbs., 112.50; 806 to 849 lbs., 111.00 to 112.75 (111.19); 29 head, 870 lbs., 111.75; 30 head, 921 lbs., 109.00; 33 head, 954 lbs., 108.25; 50 head, 1000 lbs., 99.75; 1065 to 1071 lbs., 96.00 to 99.70 (98.09). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 724 lbs., 114.75; 5 head, 785 lbs., 107.00; 8 head, 824 lbs., 108.50; 7 head, 957 lbs., 99.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 617 to 648 lbs., 113.75 to 116.25 (114.53); 6 head, 693 lbs., 110.00; 19 head, 700 to 708 lbs., 109.00 to 109.50 (109.37); 61 head, 722 lbs., 107.50 calves; 7 head, 774 lbs., 104.00; 801 to 826 lbs., 105.50 to 106.00 (105.91); 34 head, 853 lbs., 106.50; 24 head, 1028 lbs., 96.25; 5 head, 1068 lbs., 92.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 476 to 477 lbs., 114.00 to 118.00 (115.33); 5 head, 691 lbs., 109.50.
