USDA Energy Conference to be heldRenewable energy, energy efficiency information to be presented Kansas USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks reminded Kansans in early January that the Agency will be presenting its fourth annual Kansas USDA Energy Conference on Jan. 30 and 31 at Kansas State University in Manhattan. The energy conference will focus on federal and state programs that can assist agricultural producers, business owners, local governments, school districts, rural housing interests and energy contractors. "Advancing both renewable energy and energy efficiency opportunities for Kansas is critical for expanding economic development for the Sunflower State. The Conference will provide important energy assistance information and how these programs can benefit Kansans," State Director Banks commented. The Kansas USDA Energy Conference will address the key points of USDA's Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Program (Section 9006), covering both the 2007 Program's details and application process. The Conference will also provide attendees information about other energy programs, along with presentations from leaders in rural renewable energy efforts. Registrations will be accepted at the door. Registration Jan. 30 will begin at 8 a.m., with the conference beginning at 9 a.m., and wrapping up at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 31 will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 a.m. Day two's activities will end at 4:30 p.m. Day one will consist of general renewable energy and energy efficiency presentations. Day two will consist of breakout sessions split between the following interest groups: 1. agricultural producers; 2. business owners; 3. public bodies (counties, municipalities, school districts, etc.); and 4. rural housing interests.
