Texhoma cattle sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 534 head Jan. 24, compared to 1,350 head last week and 1,643 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers were steady in a limited test. Steer and heifer calves not well tested. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average to gaunt. Quality was average. The supply was comprised of 72% steers, 34% heifers with 83% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. No test on bulls. A total of 71 cows and bulls sold with 76% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 493 ., 107.50; 10 head, 578 lbs., 102.00; 653 to 694 lbs., 98.00 to 103.50 (99.68); 17 head, 711 to 714 lbs., 97.50 to 99.50 (98.09); 795 to 798 lbs., 94.00 to 94.50 (94.05); 11 head, 841 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 76 head, 695 lbs., 96.75.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 16 head, 750 lbs., 84.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 470 lbs., 94.25; 19 head, 577 lbs., 95.25; 14 head, 612 lbs., 94.25; 19 head, 669 to 697 lbs., 90.00 to 91.00 (90.73). Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 623 lbs., 86.50 to 89.25 (88.07); 15 head, 650 lbs., 88.75; 48 head, 734 lbs., 88.85. Small and medium frame 2, 3 head, 591 lbs., 84.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 33 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1525 lbs., 46.50 to 48.25; high dressing, 49.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 45.75. Lean, 17 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 1475 lbs., 47.75; high dressing, 49.50 to 52.00; low dressing, 41.40 to 44.50. Light, 5 head, 85 to 90% lean, 675 to 950 lbs., 36.00 to 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grad 1 to 2, 1 head, 1600 lbs., 54.50.
