Sioux Falls sheep sales

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., Jan. 22 reported receipts of 343 head sheep and goats, compared to 480 head last week and 976 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold steady on a light test. Slaughter ewes and feeder lambs were too few to trend. Receipts included about 38% slaughter lambs, 26% slaughter ewes, 18% bred ewes and the balance was feeder lambs, bucks and miscellaneous sheep.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 15 head, 141 lbs., 88.00. Wooled Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 126 to 129 lbs., 85.25 to 88.75 (86.75); 137 to 140 lbs., 86.75 to 87.25 (87.00). Wooled Choice and Prime 3 to 4, 155 to 161 lbs., 85.00 to 85.50 (85.12).

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 13 head, 163 to 171 lbs., 44.50 to 47.00 (45.06). Good 3 to 4, 14 head, 221 to 250 lbs., 31.50 to 33.50 (32.58). Cull 1, 139 to 153 lbs., 27.00 to 36.00 (28.50).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 102 lbs., 96.50.

Slaughter kids: Selection 1, 4 head, 74 lbs., 91.00.

Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1 to 2, 5 head, 115 lbs., 62.00.

Slaughter bucks/billies: Selection 1, 6 head, 55 lbs., 96.00.
