Sheep promotion activities successful at KS State FairThe Kansas Sheep Council and the American Lamb Board hosted several lamb and wool promotions during the 2006 Kansas State Fair. The always popular lamb and wool booth at the Pride of Kansas Building served more than 6,000 samples and handed out 10,000 pieces of lamb recipes and wool information. The second year of the shearing and spinning demonstrations at the sheep barn were really popular, with more than 3,000 spectators watching the shearing. Many more stopped by to see the ewe and baby lamb on display and to pick up handouts and recipes. The Grand Gala on the first Saturday of the fair is the event where the grand and reserve grand champion in the market beef, swine and lamb categories are selected. The council and the American Lamb Board provided fresh American lamb for the 900 sponsors, exhibitors and parents at the event. C 3 1/1/07 All Editions Date: 1/22/07
