Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,944 head Jan. 18, compared to 4,217 head last week and 4,901 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers at 500 to 650 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, and 650 to 950 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers at 500 to 750 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, and 750 to 900 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 59% steers and 41% heifers.
