Pratt livestock sales
Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,550 head, Jan. 18, compared to 4,643 head, last week and 2,369 head, last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test but a lower undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 600 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Feeder heifers at 600 to 900 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls $3 higher. Receipts included 84% 600 pounds and over, 10% 600 pounds and under, 6% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 57% steers and 43% heifers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 23 head, 493 lbs., 111.50; 22 head, 596 lbs., 102.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 100.00 to 103.75 (101.40); 650 to 700 lbs., 99.85 to 103.25 (101.59); 700 to 750 lbs., 95.75 to 99.00 (98.08); 750 to 800 lbs., 95.85 to 98.60 (96.62); 800 to 850 lbs., 96.50 to 97.85 (97.12); 850 to 900 lbs., 93.75 to 97.00 (95.94); 9 head, 991 lbs., 88.50; 1000 to 1050 lbs., 86.00 to 89.25 (88.14). Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 948 lbs., 91.50. Large frame 2, 17 head, 949 lbs., 84.00. Bred cows: Per head, Medium and large frame 1, young, 35 head, bred third trimester, 1131 to 1169 (1154) lbs., 1270.00 to 1285.00 (1275.00); bred second trimester, Medium and large frame 1, young, 20 head, 1187 lbs., 1130.00. Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 43.00 to 48.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00.
