Tulia livestock auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,052 head Feb. 19, compared to 2,794 head last week and 1,483 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher, with the most increase on 600- to 750-pound steers. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher and bulls not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 90% and slaughter cows and bulls 10% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 61% of the run, heifers 39%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 65%.
