Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,052 head Feb. 19, compared to 2,794 head last week and 1,483 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher, with the most increase on 600- to 750-pound steers. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher and bulls not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 90% and slaughter cows and bulls 10% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 61% of the run, heifers 39%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 65%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 142.00 to 150.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.50 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 113.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00, thin 626 lbs., 110.00, 613 to 673 lbs., calves 98.00 to 104.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 99.25 to 103.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 97.25 to 99.10; package 805 lbs., 97.00; 900 to 925 lbs., 94.00 to 94.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 306 to 396 lbs., 133.00 to 137.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 106.50, 626 to 630 lbs., calves 93.00 to 95.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 96.50 to 101.25, 701 to 790 lbs., fleshy 90.00 to 94.00; package 821 lbs., full 85.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 232 lbs., 100.00; package 428 lbs., 96.00; package 526 lbs., 96.00; package 638 lbs., 92.50; package 875 lbs., 88.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 42.00 to 46.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 44.00 to 46.00; 35.25 to 40.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., individual 39.00; individual 34.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1750 lbs., 62.00 to 66.00, few.

Replacement cows: Large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 660.00 to 810.00 per head; middle-aged to aged, 850 to 1100 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 460.00 to 590.00 per head.
