Tree care workshops focus on disaster recoveryNebraska Nebraska Tree Care Workshops will offer members of the green industry the opportunity to learn about current and emerging issues in tree care with an emphasis on disaster recovery. "While an actual storm or fire event is typically short-lived, the clean-up and recovery efforts can last for years, especially when you are dealing with trees," said Eric Berg, community forestry program leader. The day-long workshops will be offered at six locations across the state in March. Each workshop contains five presentations made by Nebraska forestry professionals. Public works employees, landscape managers, tree board members, arborists, nursery professionals and others in the industry are encouraged to attend. "The advantage of attending a training like this is learning how to prioritize tree work, understanding what is worth saving and learning how tree selection and replanting efforts can minimize future damage from storm events," Berg said. Workshop session titles include: Tree Selection An Important First Step; Status and Future of Nebraska's Community Forest Resources; Pest Predictions; Does Proper Pruning Really Matter?; and Local Issues in the Community Forest.
