St. Onge livestock auction
The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,890 head Feb. 16, compared to 714 head last week and 1,187 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to two weeks ago, a feeder cattle trend was not applicable because no sales were reported at the last covered auction. However, a higher undertone was noted. Feeding cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $1 to $3 higher. Demand was good on all classes with feeder weigh-ups mostly in the buyer's favor. Feeder receipts included 52% steers and 48% heifers, with 47% over 600 pounds. Receipts about 90% feeder cattle, 3% slaughter cows and bulls, with balance cows returning to the country plus other miscellaneous cattle.
