Soybean association selects 2007 young leaders
Nathan and Tori Oehlrich of Richland, Neb., have been selected as the Nebraska Soybean Association's 2007 Young Leaders. The Oehlrichs were chosen from a group of finalists by the NSA Young Leader committee. The Young Leader Program is sponsored by the American Soybean Association and DuPont. The program is designed to recognize and strengthen leadership in the agricultural community. The Oehlrichs are involved in the family farm operation near Richland in Colfax County. Their operation consists of livestock, both hogs and cattle, and crop production of corn,Soybeansand alfalfa. In addition to the farm operation, Nathan is an agronomist and seed sales representative for Golden Harvest Seeds. As the 2007 ASA/DuPont Young Leaders, Nathan and Tori will attend the 2007 Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla., in late February. While attending the Commodity Classic they will participate in an extensive four day leadership training program designed to develop leadership skills. The Oehlrichs will join 26 other Young Leader winners from across the United States. The group will also participate in a part two training program to be held in Des Moines in December of 2007. Young Leader chairman, Alan Zoucha of Carleton says "this program has been instrumental in helping to identify and develop some of the top soybean industry leaders in the state. This group demonstrates the outstanding talent of agricultural leaders we have in Nebraska." NSA is the grassroots commodity organization that is the policy advocate and collective voice of its producer-members on state wide issues and represents Nebraska domestically and internationally through membership of the American Soybean Association.
