Sioux Falls sheep sales
The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., Feb. 19, reported receipts of 587 head of sheep and goats, compared to 783 head last week and 792 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week slaughter lambs sold $2 to $3 higher on a light test. Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady. Receipts were 34% slaughter lambs, 48% slaughter ewes and the balance mostly feeder lambs, with nearly 100 goats at auction. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 12 head, 113 to 121 lbs., 92.75 to 94.00 (93.46). Wooled Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 130 to 139 lbs., 92.50 to 93.75 (93.44). Wooled Choice and Prime 3 to 4, 16 head, 146 lbs., 88.00; 8 head, 160 lbs., 84.75. Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good 2 to 3, 15 head, 151 lbs., 40.00; 166 to 179 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00 (42.84). Utility and Good 3 to 4, 16 head, 152 lbs., 36.00; 2 head, 190 lbs., 37.00; 12 head, 200 lbs., 35.00. Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 121 to 140 lbs., 36.00 to 37.00 (36.44). Cull 1 to 2, 13 head, 128 to 130 lbs., 26.00 to 27.00 (26.85). Feeder lambs: Medium and Large 1 to 2, 31 head, 77 lbs., 114.00; 4 head, 80 lbs., 111.00 to 122.00 (116.50). Slaughter kids: Selection 1 to 2, 11 head, 53 lbs., 122.00; 18 head, 74 lbs., 105.00. Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1 to 2, 123 to 127 lbs., 59.50 to 63.50 (61.63).
