Seminars scheduled to assist residents with management after fi
Nebraska On March 20 a seminar will be held at the Harrison VFW Hall to assist residents and livestock producers in dealing with the long-term affects of wildfires. The seminar will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Topics will include: --Effects of Fire on Wildlife: Emily Munter, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission; --Fire Proofing: John Overstreet, Nebraska State Forest Service; --Five Steps To Growing Fire Tolerant Forests: Doak Nickerson, Nebraska State Forest Service; --After Fire Health Issues: Dr. Kathy Bosch and Jamie Goffena, (both) UNL Extension; --USFS Post Fire Grazing: Lora O'Rourke, USFS Range Conservationist; --Grazing After Fires: Jenny Nixon (UNL), Brian Kahl (NRCS), and Scott cotton (UNL); --Erosion Risks After Fires: Robin Foulk, NRCS; and --Post Fire Invasive Plant Concerns: Galen Niehaus, Dawes County Weed Coordinator.
