Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,094 head Feb. 15, compared to 3,987 head last week and 3,052 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, feeder steers at 400 to 700 pounds were $4 to $6 higher, and 700 to 950 pounds were 50 cents to $1 higher. Feeder heifers at 400 to 650 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 650 to 950 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 65% steers and 35% heifers.
