New Limousin EPDs available

Expected progeny differences from the spring 2007 International Limousin Genetic Evaluation now are available on the North American Limousin Foundation website (www.nalf.org).

Users can click the "Sire Selector" link at the top of any NALF Web page to specify EPD-selection criteria in searching qualified U.S. and Canadian Limousin and LimFlex bulls. The "Find a Pedigree or EPD" link at the left allows them to search for information--now including the Mainstream Terminal Index value and DNA-test results, if available--about a particular animal. The new EPDs also are available for bulls and females listed for sale on the Limousin Exchange, which is accessible via the NALF home page.

The site's "Programs" section includes the spring 2007 EPD statistics, percentiles and trends; sire summary qualifications; general sire listing; trait leaders; and downloadable sire summary. A CD-ROM containing those files or a printed copy of them is available for $5 from the NALF office, 303-220-1693.

Active NALF members can view their whole-herd EPDs via the Web site's secured, members-only section (www.nalf.org/members). They also can request EPDs from the NALF office free of charge. New performance records are available for a nominal fee.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Englewood, Colo., provides programs and services - including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires--to about 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
