NCBA launches weekly TV programOn Feb. 6, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association will launch a new weekly television program for America's cattle farmers and ranchers on RFD-TV. NCBA's Cattlemen to Cattlemen will air every Tuesday evening at 8:30 Eastern time. The program will be rebroadcast on Wednesdays at 4:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 10 a.m. (all times are Eastern). Previews of the program will be shown at the Cattle Industry Annual Convention and Trade Show, Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Nashville. Cattlemen to Cattlemen will include interviews with high-profile individuals in the cattle industry. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns will be the featured guest in the premiere episode, which will also introduce viewers to incoming NCBA President John Queen. Also included will be tips on low-stress cattle handling and market information from Randy Blach, executive vice president of Cattle-Fax. The program will also look behind the counter of Boston Market, traditionally a chicken chain that is experiencing great success with its new beef entrees. Weekly episodes will be loaded with information cattlemen can use on their operation--from expert advice on reproductive management and mineral nutrition, to segments about horse health and asset management. Cattlemen to Cattlemen will go cross-country covering topics that are important to cattlemen and women. It will cover news of the week and market information, but will also include in-depth features about methods cattle producers are using to build their operations and grow their bottom line. "As the leading organization representing cattle farmers and ranchers across the country, we talk to producers every day about what they're doing on their operations to create opportunities today and for the next generation," said Mike John, a cattleman from Huntsville, Mo., and current NCBA president. NCBA's Cattlemen to Cattlemen is hosted by Susie Ross, a Colorado resident and native of South Dakota. She will be joined on selected segments by regional reporters Todd McCartney of Millsap, Texas, Kevin Ochsner of Kersey, Colo., and Jim Whitt of Tulsa, Okla. Cattlemen to Cattlemen offers the latest on cattle production and herd management, and discusses some of the industry's hottest topics--from international trade to animal ID. The program shows cattlemen how to make their voice heard in Washington, and explores what's on the minds of top government officials. An upcoming episode features a one-on-one interview with Rep. Collin Peterson, D-MN, the new U.S. House Agriculture Committee chairman. "NCBA is about two things: Protecting cattlemen from issues that threaten our business, and promoting and defending beef," said John. "We have so many stories to tell about what we do and the producers who help us do it. We're very excited to bring it all to life on RFD-TV." NCBA is joined in underwriting this program by Fort Dodge Animal Health, Purina Mills, McDonald's, Pfizer Animal Health, and Bayer Animal Health.
