The Fertilizer Institute develops policy brochureCites fertilizer's strategic importance in the production of food, feed, fuel and fiber The Fertilizer Institute recently released its farm policy brochure, "Fertilizer's Role in Agriculture," which was developed as a tool for use in the farm bill debate and a means of quantifying fertilizers' contribution to the nation's agricultural productivity. The brochure outlines fertilizer's role in the production of food, feed, fuel and fiber and stresses TFI's policy as it relates to the 2007 farm bill. "As the association representing the entire fertilizer industry, we must educate members of Congress and their staffs about fertilizer's role in production agriculture," said Ford B. West, TFI president. "Every farm and field is different; that is why TFI supports using the right product at the right rate, right time and right place." TFI also supports expanding the farm bill's energy title and increasing the production and use of biofuels, as well as increasing renewable energy research programs. TFI is making this brochure available to its members for use at state and regional meetings with state legislatures, local councils and others. Member companies will be able to order complimentary co-branded brochures beginning Feb. 16. "We are excited to offer co-branded brochures to our members," said West. "The more our members engage with their elected officials, the more times our industry's message is being heard." Congress has indicated its intent to have the 2007 farm bill written prior to the 2002 farm bill's expiration in September of this year. TFI's farm policy brochure can be viewed on TFI's website at www.tfi.org. 5 Star OK 2/19/07 21 B Date: 2/13/07
